On some platforms, my editor of choice has become the aptly named Sublime Text. Unfortunately, it does not seem to have built in syntax highlighting for the Maple programming language and so I set out to write some.  In the end, I wrote enough highlighting to keep me sane when looking at Maple source, but it could use a lot more work.  So in case anyone is interested I've put what I have in a Github repository: SublimeTextMaple

If you use Sublime Text, please download it and add your own enhacements and share in turn.

I just bought 2016 Maple. For a few days, everything was fine.

The increase of the speed calculations is very significant.

Then copy and paste gave unexpected results: impossible to keep the symbols, systematic conversion in text,in mode MathML,, appearance of ASCII characters in the texts, etc ..

all attempts to change the settings have failed

I spend more time correcting the changes that occur in the copy and paste that to take care of my equations.

Do you have an explanation ?

Hi everyone, I'd like to know if it's possible to use the startup code editor as a general editor when writing large programs. It nicely recognizes keywords such as "if" and "proc" and you can indent code using TAB. However I'm not sure whether you can/should use it as a general editor to run code. I've read something about user-profiles related to the startup code but I just don't understand how it works.

Hello those who are in this maple primes.

I downloaded maple2015 for Mac, the newest version of the software, and tried to use it to draw a simple figure with plot3d.

But, in the end, I used gnuplot which I had happened to install though it was my first time of using it.

The problem of using my Maple was that it was too heavy and with my macbook, I found it impossible

to have it work properly. So, I am writing my question now.

I used terminal, but as I think it  might be easy to deal with to use editor not terminal itself

though I use the editor from the terminal, I want to know how I can use maple from the editor and what things I

can do when I do so. In my image, I want to use it like using TeX from the editor.

As for coloring the code, is the best tool one for Maple V yet? And, how can I do after I wrote the code of Maple?

What can I do with emacs and Maple? Can I use emacs like IDE of TeXshop or TeXworks in LateX?

I am glad to hear from you the general concept or procedures of using it if I use emacs and Maple.

Thanks in advance.

Due to the seemingly persistent tabbing-problem, I would like to learn how to work with Maple using an external editor: If I could recreate my packages using an external editor, thereby avoiding both the tabbing-issue and the blowup associated with what I call the 'XML-contamination of documents', and from them create the associated libraries, then I would be satisfied. For then I would use only a single document in Maple worksheet mode as a front end. Therefore:

Can anyone point me to some information concerning 1.) choice of an editor, and 2.) how to use an external editor to create packages and libraries in Maple?

according to this page  http://www.maplesoft.com/products/maple/new_features/codeeditor.aspx

it says "Maple 17 features a completely new editor for writing Maple code."  but for the last 15 minutes I've been looking in my Maple 17.02 for windows and not able to figure where this editor is or how to start it.

When I open Maple, I say File->New-> and nothing there for an editor.

I also looked in my Maple installation icons group, there is nothing there.

I also looked here http://www.maplesoft.com/support/help/Maple/view.aspx?path=updates/Maple17/CodeEditor

"Maple 17 features a completely new editor for writing Maple code.   The editor includes many features to make it easier to write, read, and debug Maple code, such as syntax highlighting, bracket matching, command completion, and automatic indenting. The new editor is available for managing startup code, inline code edit regions, and code attached to embedded components."

but again, does not say anything about how to START it ? Or is this editor a separate apps I need to buy?

Hello,

I would be grateful if other users of Maple TA could post their experiences of the Equation Editor here.  I have used it in Maple TA 5 (on premise) and 8 (hosted) and in both cases it is incredibly slow to load, has errors with out of date certificates (I've been told these will be fixed in version 9), and sometimes just won't display an equation from the question at all.  I don't think I'm doing anything wrong (I position my cursor on the equation...

Hello there,

I tried using your HTML window that can be activated from your editor to write a post. I intended to use HTML TT tags to display some MAPLE input, and everything previewed fine. However when I looked at the actual post after I submitted, the content between the TT tags had disappeared. Tried it twice. I have a feeling you are validating your HTML but some regex does not know about the TT tags and eliminates them.

Best regards,

I recently had a journal article accepted but was told that several of the graphs had to be redone because the axes were not thick enough to reproduce. Unfortunately, Maple has no way to edit the axes for thickness, so I had to export the differential equations to Matlab and integrate them there to get publication quality graphs. I have been having more trouble every year with the quality of Maple's graphics output, and this really puts a cherry on it. I would be pleased as punch if Maple could include a graph editor that would let us customize a graph to make it presentable to publishers. Maple does so many things so well it is a shame to leave this on the back burner.

Sometimes if code is not made available to download it must be transcribed or copied (I prefer the select content, crtl-c (copy), crtl-v (paste), route.  However sometimes the code must be decoded due to the way 2-D math is interpreted when it is copied to Notepad.

For example,

a:=(x,t)->5*x+3*t*x^2

in Standard mode looks like       a := proc (x, t) options...

I am trying to see what is in the startupcode file by using the Edit->Startup Code.  I know that somewhere is a command called interface(imaginaryunit=j) because it works when I restart.  I cannot even change anything because it does not show anything in the editor and nothing takes effect.

This is a continuation branch of the thread "cut/paste" won't work..." See point #1 below.

1. Why won't #$%^ Mapleprimes editor let me reply to the original post? I press "add comment" and I get pointed back to the branch two steps back. Anything I write comes out blank when I submit, so now there are two blank replies credited to me! Does that give me points I don't deserve?

2. Classic worksheet isn't "still there". It says so in the readme that classic worksheet...

Hi All

If we have extensive material in pdf format and we want to tranfer this information to Maple and use it it as the main editor and word proceesor on a go forward basis - Is it possible to copy a pdf document with extensive equations into Maple while maintaining the format particularly of the equations, pictures, drawings and plots? Any copying and pasting I do now garlbles up the equations, plots and pictures of the pages I import to Maple...

This is a follow-up to a rather old posting about maple.vim.  There is now a maplevim project on google code to helpfully get the community to work on upgrading maple.vim a bit more frequently.

Right now there is a shipping version of maple.vim checked-in, as well as a set of 'pieces' (in the pieces sub-directory...

The Vim editor ships with a maple.vim file, which is a "maple mode". It was first created by Charles Campbell, and I provided some updates (up to Maple 9.5). I am about to rev that up to Maple 11, so I would like to know if there are any feature requests which I should consider rolling-in at the same time? If you have little bits of vim scripts which you yourself use, by all means, send them along! [You'll get full credit for that, I am fine with being just an aggregator...
