I see there are functions for 3-dimensional planes and spheres but what about arbitrary curves?

For instance I have the following 3D curves: z = y*log(x) and z = y + x*log(x)

  1. How can I compute the intersection of these curves?

I was using maple the other day, and suddenly i found out my 3D graph turned into black, but when i save the file as pdf, it could show the graph. And also it doesnt affect the maple displays 2D graph. So i wonder how did this happened and how i fix it.

I have a table T where the indicies are pairs (a,b) of integers with 0<a,b<50. Is it possible to make a 3D plot with a point (a,b,T(a,b)) for each (a,b) in the domain of T?

I tried to use multiple light sources with transparency for 3D plots and could not get it to work.  There are indications in the plot,structure help that this is supposed to be possible.  I have attached a worksheet that demonstrates some of the problems with the "light" and "LIGHT" options for 3D plotting.  Much of the output has been removed since the graphics take so much space.  The same plots are generated in both Windows and Linux.

I've a 3d surface built by the point's set;

The question is:

1. how to build a surface based on this data?

2. how to define whether the arbitrary point (x,y,z) is inside this surface or not?

Maple 16 introduced dramatic changes to the postscript export facility of 3d plots. This is great news, but some bugs remain. Let me report here about my experience. (Note: Maple 15's 3d ps export was something like an encapsulated bmp, while Maple 16 is a genuine level3 postscript export tool)

The initial release in Maple 16.00 was buggy. In my experience, the export would hang most of the time. An improved release came with Maple 16.01. I have not experienced any...

Is there some way to do this?  I am hoping to export the plots to x3d files with the ultimate goal of sending the files to a company that can print them on a 3d printer.  (for example, Shapeways  ) 

Hello! I am trying to graph the following: 

dx/dt = -10*x + 10*y 
dy/dt = r*x - y - x*z 
dz/dt = -(8/3)*z + x*y 

where x, y, and z are all functions of time (t). Solve the equations subject to the constraint that r = 25 and the initial conditions that at t = 0, x = -1, y = -1, and z = 1.

So I want to display a plot containing a spiral and a polygon graph approximating the shape. I use a seq to make the points in pointplot3d and then connect them with the connect option. It looks like this:

I want to make a 3D-plot with the style "surfacecontour". My question is: How do I define the number of contourlines? As I understand the default value is 10, but I only want 4. 

I hope you can help me!  



I am trying to plot in Maple 16 (just installed) and I am getting text output. Maple 15 worked just fine.

Anyone have ideas?
