I joined MaplePrimes three short days ago and already feel very enthusiastic about all it has to offer. Just yesterday, I introduced myself in my first blog post. Much to my amazement, my post was read over 150 times in the first 24 hours, which is more traffic than my home page sees in weeks—what a great website! I have some questions and suggestions concerning MaplePrimes member profiles:
  1. For their number of years of Maple experience, some members enter a number (e.g., 21) and other members enter a string (e.g., Since 1985). If the actual number of years is entered, will it be incremented automatically with each passing year of MaplePrimes membership or do members have to update it themselves each year? If it's the former, can it say so in the data entry screen?
  1. This is a very minor point, but the profile field which is currently called the "salutation" should really be called the "title." The salutation refers to the entire greeting, which includes the title, as in "Dear Prof. Bigshot..."
  1. Even more minor is that all of the titles except for Miss should really end with a period since they are abbreviations. (I'm sorry for being so knit-picky, but we might as well fix the little things while the website is still in beta testing.)
  1. Is there a way to list all of the members of MaplePrimes and browse their profiles?
  1. Is there a way to locate a particular MaplePrimes member by searching on fields in the profile?
By the way, I'm really looking forward to having free access to a MapleNet server on MaplePrimes—that will be sweet. Keep up the great work! Thanks so much, Fred Chapman -- Frederick W. Chapman, Postdoctoral Fellow, University of Waterloo http://www.scg.uwaterloo.ca/~fwchapman/
