The problem however is not (only) numerics for Bessel: since it is used for large arguments one might think of using
asymptotics - and sees that the problem would be at least similar if using sin(50001*x) instead.

B.T.W. that thread is a bit chaotic

Hm, yes, Maple is very slow for that functions (which explains a good part of the linked test results).

One way is either to code it (had posted something towards that) or to use a compiled external library like GSL,
so there is no need to use 100 Digits (as in the test report)

However it would not heal the problem of high oscillations, I think that is a filed of its own in Numerics.

.

I killed my Maple session ...

For me it is not 'readable', but a kind of calendar computation and for this I would use a calendar function.

The other thing is: I would try to formulate it in the style of a 'decision table', which at least would give the
chance to check whether inputs are correct.

what do you mean by "flag"?

Thanks for both the answers, it helps to find the docu

PS: eigen-pun is a nice word ... but that has to wait until ash wednesday :-)

Yes, seems to be an adequate translation, mostly I use dict.tu-chemnitz.de/ as dictionary

acer, Thx ... for reminding that integration option (which actually is needed ...)

the listing is last post "xxx ago" ... can we also have "xxx before" ? :-)

leaving "ago" out would save 1 line in the overview (at least here at a smaller screen)

i have the impression it loads faster ...

no 'pre' is needed for fixed font, just uses 'formatted' as format, seems to add the pre
even allows < or > <= or => ...

handling needs some hm ... can not always recognize, what i mark for formating

fine, think i can get used to it ... Willi like that

however each time i edit this post i am loosing 1 point and Will is earning 1 point

tststs ... :-)

for me it still works to export from classic sheet with M11 to MS Word as an RTF file, however the formulae are exported as graphics, so they can not be edited if the file is a standard mode document then in some cases i can not even store it in classical format (especially those from the Application Center)
