Hi,

sorry for this question that it is surely for moron's level, but I am absolutely new to Maple, have read the manual, have checked internet and I cannot find a clear answer to the not-clear-to-me probably obvious.

for

isolate(y=a*cos(theta)-tan(b)*a*sin(theta),theta)

I get

"theta = arctan((-y*tan(b)+(tan(b)^2*a^2+a^2-y^2)^(1/2))/(tan(b)^2+1)/a,(y+tan(b)*(-y*tan(b)+(tan(b)^2*a^2+a^2-y^2)^(1/2))/(tan(b)^2+1))/a)"

does this mean two different solutions?

1)

theta = arctan((-y*tan(b)+(tan(b)^2*a^2+a^2-y^2)^(1/2))/(tan(b)^2+1)/a

2)

theta = arctan((y+tan(b)*(-y*tan(b)+(tan(b)^2*a^2+a^2-y^2)^(1/2))/(tan(b)^2+1))/a)
