I am working with Maple 9 and I am trying to create some kind of density plot similar to the one shown below this message (this one was created with matlab). I haven't yet figured out how to get a density plot with a color gradient and a scale (or legend) at the site of it which shows which color corresponds to which density value.
Actually I want to plot a capacitor (or inductor) current and stored energy in an inductor (two different diagramms) which are depending on the input current and the output voltage. This should happen in a similar diagramm shown below.
I would be very thankful if you could help me to solve this problem.

Hi, I just started using maple yesterday. I got version 10 and was wondering how I could get a definite integral for the function below. For some reason whenever I try to, it doesn't give me an actual numerical answer but a restatement of the statement. The function is: (sqrt[x^2-0.2^2]/sqrt[x^2-0.3^2])*(0.3/x) Thanks in advance.

Hello - thanks rcoe for your previous post.
One of my students encountered a system error after clicking the link to his assignment and entering his username and password. I created a "fake student" and was able to recreate the error a couple times after randomly opening and closing some assignments. The error stopped occuring after I logged in as the instructor and cleared any active assignments the student had.
I am running Maple TA version 2.0.1. Is this a bug or do you have any suggestions on how to avoid this error in the future?

I have been using Maple 10 for a couple of months. Reading from the User Manual and working with the program to get up to speed. I can write functions and procedures just fine, and they work great within the worksheet that I have open at the time. I want to be able to save these items for use in other worksheets or documents later on. I have not been able to find a way to save, recall or send to a custom library. What is a boy to do? I'm trying to use evalb to see if two versions of an expression that i'm comparing is true. here is my input please bear with me i don't know how to enter symbolic math into these posts yet. evalb ((1/2 (2^((1/4)) (((a)/(Pi)))^((1/4))* (e)^((-1/4 (k^2)/(a))))/(sqrt(Pi) sqrt(a)) )= (((2*a)/(Pi))^((1/4))*(1/(sqrt(2*a)))*(e)^((- (k^(2))/(4*a))))); and I get the Error Message " Error Unknown Operator" with a red dashed square around the first exponential (the first actual letter e)in the first expression to the left of the equal sign that i'm trying to compare. Hello, I'm a new user of Maple and I have Maple 10 now. I am able to make two separate 2D plots, one with points and one with a function, but I would like to be able to view both the points and function on the same plot. How can I do this? Thanks, Sammy

This integral |A^|^2(∫)[-infinity]^infinity(e)^(-2 ax^2) ⅆx gives me the output (|A|)^2 signum((e)^((-2 ax^2))) infinity unless i put parentheses around the -2a in the exponential to look like e^-((2a)*x^2) then i get more useful output that looks like (|A|)^2 ({[[1/2 (sqrt(2) sqrt(Pi))/(sqrt(a)),` `,csgn(a)=1], [infinity,` `,otherwise]]) Please explain the signum, and csgn(a) = 1 included in both outputs and the reason for this behavior ? new to maple thanks

What this really mean?

The help page for

`StringTools:-FormatTime`

states that the

`%Z`

specifier returns the time zone, if available. On my system (linux), it just returns the string

`"???"`

. For example,

StringTools:-FormatTime("%Z");
"???"

Is there a way to get this to work?

Maple looks quite powerful, but I'm a little confused as to plotting a simple graph such as plotting these 3 data points: 43.69 Apr 08 2004 10:41:45 PDT 40 Apr 07 2004 22:48:47 PDT 32.5 Apr 06 2004 06:13:30 PDT That is, some number vs. a time of day. Thanks very much for any help. - H.

Does anyone know if there is a way to create/display nested piecewise functions in maple? I want a piecewise function where the conditions are themselves piecewise functions. Is that even possible?
