Hi I have been having this problem as well.  Here is what I tried and the results that I got, maybe this will help...

First, I tried exporting a re-sized animation; this failed as it did with you.

Next, as a test, I made a small-filesize animation without re-sizing the plot; this worked fine.

Next, I changed the frame size and tried to export; this worked as well, however it took noticeably longer.

The animation I originally tried to export was a considerably larger file than the one in my test.  My hypothesis is that Maple has to do more work to export a re-sized animation, and if the animation is a large file to begin with, the export fails.
