numdata is a 3 by (roughly) 100 matrix that has only numbers in it. As far as the assignment, it was a literal implementation of a solution method outlined in a paper, if your suggested command does the same thing I'll try it out. The original version used linalg and student, I now call the Student package earlier in the worksheet. The original worksheet had the same problem when I tried to run it in Maple 10, i.e. mserver.exe would quit and give me the error message mentioned.
