@ecterrab So the problem really exist, users should install updates via Maple Cloud and ignore the absence of update announcements.

@Thomas Richard Still no Programming Guide for recent Maple version??!!

@Thomas Richard Thanks for a positive replay :)

@acer  My question is about the specific case when the symbolic Sum experession range N is not a numerical value!

When will be available updated manuals for maple 2021??? So far are available only manuals for Maple 2020 (see here).

@Thomas Richard Well OK ... good news. Could you provide detailed steps how to install and configure GCT on single machine? All info at the documentation is only for network (multi-node) case.

@Thomas Richard I know that Grid package cover all parallel processing constructs, but I need to test final functionality with GCT (server initialization, nodes management, jobs submit, etc.), which is really a different approach as in Grid package.

So, it is possible to instal/configure and operate the Grid Toolbox on multi-core machine?

@acer I would like to make a program for Grid Toolbox, but during development phase I want to work only on single multi-core machine.

@Mac Dude Are you sure, that Maple on RPi is a good idea? I hava some experience with Wolfram Mathematica on RPi and the overall performance is really (!!!) very, very... poor. Moreover, any highly optimizated math low-level libraries for x86 CPUs are still not available for ARM.

I just want to express big Thanks to Edgardo S. Cheb-Terrab, who is maintaining and developing the Physics package for Maple.

As you knows, some time ago was discused here problem with unreliable package update procedure on Windows platform. Edgardo created the fully functional and reliable workaround for Windows platform specific problem. I helped him with testing and verification.

Now, until the next update release (which is likely to provide a complete and definitive solution to this problem) is possible reliably and smoothly update the Physics package via MapleCloud menu.

@JonMcLoone , @Carl Love

Adavanpix mutiprecision benchmarks are very well reproducible. So, these benchmark results are reliable and shows how poorly perform Maple on this task.

See this Advanpix post and try to use these test codes. Presented results clearly shows how terrible Maple performance really is on elementary function multi-precision evaluations. Of course, these bechmarks are about 4 years old, but they are still valid!!!

I think that on this field is clear winner Advanpix MCT+Matlab, then follows Mathematica and than ,far , far behinds it is the MAPLE :(

This is the main reason why I posted here my wish regarding resolve this terrible MAPLE problem in future releases.

Finally, the Wolfram Research marketing guys now have really good Mathematica-Maple comparison topic, where Mathematica definitely and without any doubt excel over Maple but it is still much slower than Advanpix MCT + MATLAB.

P.S. I know from credible sources that about 4-5 years ago, the author of the MCT toolbox contacted Maple top managers with an offer to cooperate on  this problem.
"They said that fast multiple precision is low priority task because of low demand."
It would be a shame for Maple to remain so terribly slow.

1. Significantly better (faster!!!) multi-precision evaluation of basic functions and linear algebra, see for example: https://www.advanpix.com/, which is exremely important for any realistic large scale multi-precsion computation. In a best case, MAPLE should use advanpix multi-precision engine (very well parallelized) in a future releases ... :)

2. Better (more reliable, robust and fast) optimization functions LPsolve and NLPsolve with multi-precision support.

3. Better Maple toolbox for Matlab ... better integration (smooth switching between MATLAB and MAPLE symbolic engine)

I can confirm that Physics Updates package still does not install (Windows 10 Pro, 64 bit).

This problem is really very annoying and should be fixed as soon as possible!!!

P.S. Did the developers perform any tests of the installation of the update?

@ecterrab Physics package update procedure (on Windows platform) should work properly!!! Maple 2020.1.1 update does not solve this problem at all.

@eithne The problem is still not fixed by 2020.1.1 update. Same symptomes ... no solution!

Fix by developers is really highly demanded!!!
