Tried using "Esc:=eval(Esc,b=b(v)); Esc:=eval(Esc,v=w);" instead -- with the same outcome. The command still does not evaluate "assumed" variables b~ and v~. Could you please provide more information on this? I'm new to Maple and some concepts of the language are still puzzling...
