Yes, looking through my post again I realize my quesitons were pretty idiotic. As well as my observation.

However, the same code will run w/ out error in Maple 13 and less---so there is some weird problem none-the-less.

Thanks for this.

Are the built in maple commands (specifically LinearAlgebra[Determinant](AA,method=integer); ) doing co-factor expansion? Or is the method first doing some row reductions?

Alternatively, since I am only really interested if the matrix is non-zero I could do a rank calculation. Would this be better?

Yes. My preference would be to use "add". But I'm desinging worksheets/notes for students and the 2D-representation of sum is far easier to understand.

Is it possible to get the summand symbol to show up for "add" instead of sum.

Great thanks. That makes sense. Although the behaviour is not that intuitive.

Whoops. My bad! Thanks for pointing me n the right direction.

Works like a charm.

But if plotting solid shapes in ps possible---why doesn't the exporter work as expected?

Yep. That's exactly the reason I posted this. I was hoping to get that 2d output fixed.

Right. But how come the 2d input didn't render properly? Certainly latex has an "arrow operator" and x^2 should be rendered as we expect. No?
