The second series consisted of matters beginning with "B" and in addition noticed the first makes an attempt to concentrate to a selected theme all through one episode, e.g. "Birds" (the over-riding theme did not necessarily start with "B", although the questions at all times contained an element that did). The primary sequence began on 11 September 2003, and consisted of topics starting with "A". This trend has continued with each subsequent series; episodes from earlier series had been retroactively given titles. A QI Elves podcast, No Such Factor as a Fish, began on eight March 2014. The title is taken from an entry into the Oxford Encyclopedia of Underwater Life (though in the opening theme of the first 41 episodes it is incorrectly referenced as the Oxford 'Dictionary' of Underwater Life), which was used on the show.
Collection D was the primary to see all of the episodes focus upon a single subject or theme, beginning with the sequence letter (e.g. Hazard), and for each to be given an official title linked to the subject/theme. In 2018 a web based behind the scenes sequence that adopted the podcasters on their UK tour was released referred to as 'Behind The Gills'. A video podcast (featuring one of the best moments with some out-takes) was planned to accompany Collection E, but this was as an alternative turned right into a set of "Quickies" featured on the QI homepage of the BBC's web site. In QI, each sequence takes its theme from a special letter of the alphabet, starting with the letter "A".
The theme song is "Wasps" from the band Emperor Sure, which relies on a fact about bees which was used on QI. They argue that bees as a substitute are primarily recruited by odor. Regular elves are Anna Ptaszynski, James Harkin, Dan Schreiber, and Andrew Hunter Murray, with occasional appearances from Alex Bell and Anne Miller. The "elves" devise the questions for the present, and one is on set during filming who's ready to communicate with the host through the present to offer and correct info. Schreiber is the host of the present. newsperspectivetoday.com entitled No Such Thing because the News aired for 2 seasons in 2016, following a similar format based around news tales and present occasions.
