Hi Carl,

I did read the help page on siderules and if you see in my original worksheet, it's the 3rd from bottom that i've tried. Only difference is i used

simplify(kappa, [newpar]);

instead of

simplify(kappa, {newpar});

which I am not sure what the difference is.

But yeah, if I run it individually in a reverse order, it works like a magic! That makes me think, how do Maple actually do it in simplify(kappa, {newpar}) ? Is it done in the natural order? or 'parrellel'?

Many thanks!

Casper

You might have missed a brace (bracket) in the 'if' condition statement.

I remember you helped me with another similar post.

”evalindets“ looks like a powerful tool.

Thanks

The university server is "believed" to be more powerful. I quote

It has two Quad core processors (Intel® Xeon® E5 2650 @ 2.00GHz), 64 GB memory. 64 bit platform, hyper-threading, 32 virtual CPUs and a cache size of 20480 KB.

Yes, I now only use the code that does not simplify the expresion.

The "error" had been there regardless I simplify it or not. From experience, the command line like maple on the server, I have had "momeory used" as much as 2TB, "alloc" as much as 8000MB

So from the picture above, I dont think it could cause that error. Yes, the server is obviously shared. Only in exetreme cases, too many people are using it.

Sometimes, if I do

seq(mykappa(K,2,true,true,true),K=3..8);

and then

seq(mykappa(K,2,true,true,true),K=9..10);

it works, I can then even do

seq(mykappa(K,2,true,true,true),K=11..12);

for example.

The real problem is, I want to run some tests in batch. I can't exactly stay on the server and 'restart' it (maple programme) over the night.

So looking for a better way at the moment.

Hi,It really surprises me that this would happen because I simplified it. However, it did solve the problem!

Do you know anything about the kernel problem?

http://www.mapleprimes.com/questions/147479-What-Could-Possibly-Be-The-Problem

It happened when I switched to a university server on Linux, still Maple 17 X64 version.

'Smallish' models run without any problem. But when I tried

seq(mykappa(K,2,true,true,true),K=3..10);

This happened:

It says something about the "stack" limit. Is it because I am using too much memory?

No, I wasnt.

I only encounter them when Maple was not able to evalute things, such as a matrix, an integral or rank of large symbolic matrices.

So I didnt spend much time on it in particular.

I am not sure why this happend. I had similar problems with PDF created by other programme, such as Beamer (latex).

Maybe Acrobat needs to do a better job? lol

What file are you trying to open?

How did you open (access) it?

Did you double click on the acm23test.mw file?

Are you sure it's NOT a shorcut file? i.e. acm23test.lnk?

Is it part of a program (procedure) that runs acm23test.mw file?

Do you know where the original file acm23test.mw is save? Try open it from there by double clicking on it.

Do you have dual boot? Is it on one of the NTFS partition?

Lots of possibilities as you did not describe it properly.

@zippon I am a research student in UK. Honestly, i dont have a clue what Maple cloud does and never used it. :)

Got it.

Sorry about the title, I am not sure what that thing is called. And clearly, I meant the 'horizontal' one instead of the 'vertical'.
