Thanks for your help so far.

  1. Thanks for the correction on the plot statement.  I cut and pasted one line into my post, and corrected it with an other error in another post.  Given the failure for my installation to produce a plot, this complicated issues.  Sorry for that.
  2. I did a full search on my system including my home directory.  I do not have a .mapleinit file.
  3. libname returns the name of a maple.mla file with path.
  4. I looked into the installation file, two things stick out. First the mention of one fatal error and one non-fatal error.  The log also revealed this:

Install File:             /usr/local/maple13/lib//
                          Status: FATAL ERROR
                          Additional Notes: FATAL ERROR - Error Installing Folder Contents: java.util.zip.ZipException: ZIP_Read: error reading zip file

It seems it was an installation issue.  Is there a way to fix this (I no longer have the installation DVD) or do I have to reinstall?  Thank you all for your help thus far.

> plot(sin(x), 0 .. 10);
Error, (in plot) type `has_unit` does not exist

This error is still there.  No plots work.  None.  I have used Maple before so I am familiar with the syntax - my last post was a cut and paste with errors. Worksheets that work fine under my Windows installation do not open/execute under Linux.

This is why I feel it is a bad install.  The worksheets work consistently well under Windows, but die under Linux.  The kernel is the same (v13) so the syntax should not be an issue.  A basic plot command will simply not work, yielding the same error as indicated above.  As you can guess, I am still perplexed.

Hello Scott, thanks for your reply but....

I get this thing from a fresh maple sheet.  No plot produced.  Nothing to click on.  I can't seem to figure this out. Bad install?
