Thank you so much!

Thank you so much!

It does say the potential is:

U(r), so if r is a point (x,y) then U(x,y)? I tryed entering just x+y and x*y instead of r. It didnt yield any results.

So im not really sure why it is written U(r).. r must be something that will hinder the graph from being an asymptote to the x and y axes and point downwards instead, like in the second picture on page 5. Though this is starting to become a physics problem rather than a maple problem :S

Wow, stupid of me to miss that part!

Thanks!! I have one more questien though if you are up for it. As seen in the paper he first plots the gravitational potential, which i have plottet by now, but afterwords he plots the pseudo potential, the total potential. In the function it looks like he has a function of 3 variables (x,y,r) instead of just two (x,y).

What does he do in order to plot the function? Plotting with 3 variables is not possible, at least i have not learned that yet. r is the position?...

Regards

Oh i can see i forgot a picture where i define V.

Here it is: http://img27.imageshack.us/img27/2298/112345.png

Oh sorry. I want to plot the gravitational potential in maple like done on the bottom of page 5 in the example. When i tryed to do this i got this: http://img825.imageshack.us/img825/70/12345mq.png

So i guess what i want is to figure out what im doing wrong, and what i should do in other to get the plot from bottom of page 5. As i said earlier i managed to get a contour of the function (matching the picture on top of page 5) by setting y = 0 in a normal graph program, so i do not understand why it is not right.
