For a beginner who just wants to see ANY plot of Dirac at zero, this demonstration of deep Maple expertise is completely useless!!! This is also my general complaint bout Maple help. Has nothing else come up on this question since 2005?

My problem is: I have a mass hangin from a spring, at rest at t=0. I bump it with a hammer.

I apply Laplace transform, I solve the equation and get the right physical solutuion.

I use MAPLE with method=laplace and I get the same right solutiuon.

If the default method leads to an ill-posed problem, I would like to have been warned of it. I lost one class period because of this.

Besides, I could not find such an alert in the help of MAPLE 17.

Sorry, my problem is the hamonic oscilator and the second solution is the right one.

Of couse, I have plotted both solutions.

Forcing-Dirac modifies the speed at zero and dipole modifies the position at zero.

I wonder where MAPLE got the first solution from. What is  it realy calculating. Just no sense?

Nevertheless, the second solution (with laplace) is the one physically correct.

Shuldn't MAPLE have warned me that the first solution is in jeopardy?

This is better. But how did you manage to find it out? I have been tangled with this for almost a decade and MAPLE help has been of no use.

Thank you for helping.
Actually, I intended to avoid introducing an external loop to fulfill MAPLE’s command.
In order to work with Haar wavelets it suffices to introduce the two filter coefficients [1/sqrt(2), 1/sqrt(2)] and [1/sqrt()2),-1/sqrt(2)] wich MAPLE does not accept, even if I declare them as datatype=folat[8].
Nevertheless, it accepts coefficients [1,1] and [1,-1]; I can always compensate for the constants later on.
I have already written a MAPLE program to analyze and synthesize a signal of any power of two size with Harr wavelets, but I wanted MAPLE itself to check it.
